Users may face errors while installing Turbo Tax in Windows. If the error crops while installing from a CD, use the following link for downloading and fixing the fix-it tool: If this doesn’t work, try the following:
Solution for Windows 10
Windows 10 users should right-click on the taskbar and choose Task Manager and then search Intuit Update Service in the Process tab and then end the process. Next, they should go to the Details tab and search MSIexec.exe and end all the running tasks. They should then install Turbo Tax from the CD again.
Solution for Windows 7/Vista
Windows 7 or Vista users should try to right-click on the Turbo Tax icon and choose Run As Administrator.
Solution for Windows XP/Other
If the previous step doesn’t work if the system is running on Windows XP, then the following should be done:
The user should log in as administrator and type “cmd” in the Start box. Next, they should right-click on CMD and choose Run As Administrator. They should then type “net user administrator/active:yes” in the command prompt and press Enter. They should then close the command prompt, restart the computer and sign into the Administrator account. Next, they should disable online backup/security software and install/update Turbo Tax. When this is done, they should reenable the security software.
Solution for Windows 8 and 10
Windows 8 and 10 users should follow the above steps and if the problem persists, they should right-click on the taskbar at the bottom and choose Task Manager. If there are no tabs in the Task Manager, they should choose More Details. They should then choose the Services tab and ensure that the status next to msiserver isn’t running. If it is running, then Windows is installing an update or some other program. After the installation is over, the msiserver status should be stopped before installing Turbo Tax again.
Using System File Checker
If, on the other hand, the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair tool can’t fix the problem, users should try to run the System File Checker tool, which is a Windows utility that allows users to scan and correct corruptions in system files.
The System File Checker can be run by following the steps mentioned here:
After the System File Checker has been run, users should open the Control Panel, select Programs and Files, find the .NET Framework 4, double-click on it and select Repair.
