  4. If the error still occurs even after QuickBooks Desktop un-installation/reinstallation in the Selective Startup, perform the steps given below:

    • To register the first file:
  6. Click on the Windows Start button and click Run.
  7. Copy the register file text exactly as it is, it be will something like “regsvr32… softpub.dll”
  8. Now paste it in the open field and click OK
  9. If file registers are successfully you will not get any messages.
  10. In case you receive the message, check that the register file text is copied exactly
  11. If the message continues to prompt, there must be a problem in your system.
    • To register the second file:
  12. Click on the Windows Start button and click Run
  13. Copy the register file text exactly as it is, it be will something like “regsvr32… WinTrust.dll”
  14. Now paste it in the open field and click OK
  15. If file registers are successfully you will not get any messages.
  16. In case you receive the message, check that the register file text is copied exactly
  17. If the message continues to prompt, there must be a problem in your system.
  18. Clear the Internet Explorer SSL state
    1. Open to Internet Explorer
    2. Select Tools then Internet Options
    3. Click on the Contenttab
    4. View the Contenttab and click on the Clear SSL state
    5. Restart your computer, log onto QuickBooks Desktop, and attempt to download the latest update of tax table
  • Reorganize your anti-virus, firewall, or other third-party programs.
