Fix QuickBooks Error 1402

For best results, we recommend you to perform the steps in order as given below.

  1. Download the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.exe file

  • When the error appears on the screen attempt to download the QuickBooksInstallDiagnosticTool.exe file.
  • Once completed, save the downloaded file to the desktop.
  • Now, run the tool by double-clicking on the file.
  • Click on the first given option “…problems installing QuickBooks”, then click on OK.
  • Now the tool will identify the error. Then the user needs to apply the steps in an organized manner.
  1. Enable the Built-In Administrator

Follow the given steps accordingly to enable the Built-In Administrator:

  • On your keyboard, press on the Windows + R The Run command will show on the screen.
  • Type in “msc” on the start screen. The account manager and Local Users will open.
  • Click on Users, then on the right side of the panel, the admin account will be located.
  • Now double click the Admin Account in order to access Properties Window.
  • Uncheck the Account is disabled option, then click on Apply.
  • Restart Computer and log in using the newly created administrator account.
  • Attempt to Re-Install QuickBooks.

Note: If creating the New Windows Administrator Account doesn’t fix the issue, then it means that the solution requires editing the permissions of registry key highlighted in the error.   1. Create a new Windows user

The following steps are to be followed by Windows 7 users.

  • Click on Windows Start button then select Control Panel.
  • Click on the User Accounts.
  • Click on Manage another account.
  • Select the option Create a new account.
  • Type in a test name then click on Administrator.
  • Next, click on Create account.
  • Restart Computer and log in using the newly created administrator account.
  • Attempt to Re-Install QuickBooks.
